Uptown Funk AI for Dogs and Cats: Lead the Dance or Be the Crew
One pet photo puts your dog or cat at the front of the strut, or behind you as all four backup dancers. Here’s how each setup works and what to expect.

Yes, your dog or cat can lead the Uptown Funk AI dance crew from one pet photo. Upload your pet as photo 1 and it struts at the front of four backup dancers down a retro New York-style street. Would you rather lead yourself? Put your own photo in slot 1 and your pet in slot 2, and that one pet becomes all four backup dancers behind you. Leave photo 2 empty and the crew are four strangers; whoever leads is never copied into the crew.
Four Ways to Cast Your Pet
- Your pet leads, strangers dance behind. Photo 1: your dog or cat. Photo 2: leave it empty.
- Your pet leads, you’re the crew. Photo 1: your pet. Photo 2: you. Four copies of you dance in step behind your dog.
- You lead, your pet is the crew. Photo 1: you. Photo 2: your pet. This is the cat-crew setup below.
- Dog and cat in one video. Photo 1: one of them leads. Photo 2: the other one fills all four spots in the crew.
The Cat-Crew Version That Inspired It
On October 15, 2026, creator @sergirodriguz posted his own take on the trend on Instagram: he leads the dance himself, in a white shirt, black bow tie, suspenders and a flat cap, while a crew of white-and-grey ragdoll cats in grey vests dances behind him down a brick street. It got 16K likes there, and his TikTok post from October 21 had 29,400 plays when we checked on November 1, 2026. One ragdoll cat playing the whole crew is exactly what photo 2 does here: one pet photo, four backup dancers.
What the AI Does With Your Pet
Every video follows the same written routine, and each render comes out a little different. This is what the AI is asked to do:
- Stand up and dance. Your dog or cat stands upright on its hind legs like a person and uses its front paws as hands, so it can strut and dance with the line.
- Keep its fur and markings. The AI works from your photo for your pet’s face, fur colour and markings. Likeness and small details can vary from render to render.
- Dress for the part. As the lead, your pet wears the late-’70s funk look: a salmon-pink blazer, white T-shirt and black trousers. As the crew, all four wear grey vests, white shirts and black bow ties. Now and then the AI keeps a bit of the photo’s own look.
- Follow the routine. It opens on a close-up of the lead grinning at the camera. The lead struts down the middle of the street with the crew in step, drops into a low crouch and sweeps side to side, then the whole line side-shuffles before the lead points at the camera, spins and ends leaning back with arms spread wide.
- Dance down the street. Brick and brownstone buildings, fire escapes, striped awnings, a neon pizza sign, a vintage police car and a yellow taxi. The AI sometimes carries over part of your photo’s background, so the exact backdrop isn’t guaranteed.
Photo Tips for Dogs and Cats
- One pet per photo. With two animals in the frame, or your pet in your arms, the AI can’t tell who should lead or join the crew. Give a second pet its own photo in slot 2.
- Face and body clearly visible. A shot that shows your pet’s face and most of its body gives the AI its fur and markings to work from.
- Good light. Daylight or a bright room works best; dark or backlit photos give the AI less detail.
- Facing the camera. A front-on shot of your pet looking at you works better than a side view or the back of its head.
- Straight from your phone. JPG, PNG, WebP and HEIC all work, up to 10 MB per photo; iPhone HEIC photos are converted on our server. On a computer, tap “From phone” and scan the QR code: the photo you pick on your phone lands in the uploader in about 2 seconds.
- No watermarks or logos. Screenshots with another app’s watermark are turned down by the AI service.
What You Get and What It Costs
- The video. A 15-second, 720p, 9:16 vertical MP4 with no watermark, saved in your account.
- The song. The opening 15 seconds of the original “Uptown Funk” recording by Mark Ronson featuring Bruno Mars, added to the video on our server. There’s no sound to add later.
- The price. Each video costs 20 credits. Packs are one-time payments and credits never expire: Single is $9.90 for 20 credits (1 video), Trio is $19.90 for 60 credits (3 videos, $6.63 per video) and Crew is $29.90 for 100 credits (5 videos, $5.98 per video).
- Credits from invites. There’s no free trial and no credits for signing up, but you can earn credits by inviting friends: +1 for each friend who signs up with your link (up to 50 credits) and +10 when an invited friend makes their first purchase.
- If something goes wrong. A failed render is retried once for free; if it fails again, your 20 credits go back to your balance automatically. If a finished video has a problem, email support@uptownfunk.org and we’ll refund the credits that video used, in money, to your original payment method; if you’ve only used part of a pack, the credits you haven’t used are refunded in money too. Failed renders and refused photos get their credits back automatically.
- Your pet’s photo. Uploaded photos are only used to make your video and are deleted automatically 30 days after upload.
How to Make Your Pet’s Uptown Funk AI Video
- Pick the setup. Decide who leads in photo 1 (your pet or you) and who fills the crew in photo 2 (your pet, you, another pet, or nobody).
- Open the generator and sign in with your Google account.
- Upload the photos. “Photo 1 · the lead” is required, “Photo 2 · the crew” is optional. Tick the box to confirm each photo shows you, your pet, or an adult (18+) who gave you permission.
- Press “Make my video”. It costs 20 credits. A waiting screen shows the progress; our estimate is about 3–4 minutes, and you can close the page and come back later.
- Download or share it. On iPhone, choose Save Video in the share sheet, or share the clip straight to TikTok.

Dog and Cat FAQ
Can my dog and my cat be in the same video? Yes. Put one in photo 1 to lead and the other in photo 2. The pet in photo 2 becomes all four backup dancers.
Can the four backup dancers be four different pets? No. The crew comes from one photo, so all four dancers are the same pet (or the same person). If you have several pets, make one video per crew, or let them take turns in the lead.
Will my pet look exactly like the photo? The AI works from your photo for your pet’s face, fur and markings, but every render is a little different and small details can vary. A sharp, well-lit, front-facing photo of one pet gives it the most to go on.
Is the real “Uptown Funk” song on the video? Yes. Our server adds the opening 15 seconds of the original recording by Mark Ronson featuring Bruno Mars, so the MP4 you download already has the sound.
